Mia Lost Tooth #5

Mia lost another tooth. The top ones are finally popping in - well one of them did...but the other one is on it's way. Just when things seem to be normal, and she's finally able to eat food again without the fear of swallowing a tooth, another one comes loose.
She ran upstairs from playing in the basement with Elliot and said she bummed her tooth. It was bleeding and had been doing that randomly for the last week or so. But it wouldn't stop. It was literally hanging on by a thread and that meant mommy action was needed.
I grabbed a paper towel and told her I was just going to squeeze it on the front and back side at the same time so it would stop bleeding. She was really worried I was going to pull it out and it would hurt profusely! I reassured her that if it was time for it to come out, then she wouldn't feel a thing.

Sure enough, as I continued to hold tight, she got nervous and started to pull away from me with her hand holding my hand. Worked like a charm. She felt the tooth was gone and was in shock, not sure she should laugh or be concerned. I showed it to her and immediately she wanted to go show Daddy and Elliot!
She was so excited for the tooth fairy to come and visit and got busy on a note to her right away (a note I knew nothing about). In the morning, Mia found her tooth and no note and said the Tooth Fairy never came for her, but left Elliot a note instead. I (needing more sleep) told her to look again and reminded her that her Tooth Fairy only wants the first teeth, and Mia gets to keep the others. She looked all over her room and found nothing. I said - look under your pillows silly! That's where she found a paper crane with a gold coin dollar stuffed inside the crane! She rested from her worries and excitedly came to tell everyone!

She didn't get anything from her list which I saw in the bathroom trash can later that morning. Which read (exactly):

"Dear,
Tooth Fairy
it would be helpfull
To have thease
things,Please?
M & E Kit and Ruthie
Elliot Tooth fairy doll
ME Tree house
M saddle shoes
ME in Depression
ME all clothes like KR
M Blond
E Dark brown cerly hair
E Black shoes
love,
Mia"

(M = Mia, E = Elliot, K = Kit, R = Ruthie)

She has become so obsessed with Kit Kittredge (The American Girl character)...that she wants to be her! not just like her...HER! She want's to live in the era of the Great Depression because she doesn't see all the bad stuff in the movie and the books are fun. (They aren't depressing!)...so she refusing to listen to me and wants what she wants. And in the books and movie - Ruthie Smithens is Kit's best friend - so naturally that has become Elliot's new personna in Mia's eyes!

Finding that note was a shocker! She never said anything to me - and doesn't even know I found it! But she talked to daddy about it and asked why the Tooth Fairy didn't give her anything from the list!? I feel like I'm going to be in big trouble when she finds out I'm her tooth fairy! I still believe in fairies though...I just know they are busy - so I'm helping out! Good Night all! -kg

2 Place in Karate Tournament...

I decided to have a little fun and entered a Karate Tournament that was more local than Massachusetts! It was only 30 min away in the early afternoon. I only entered for my form - which at the time was "3 Pinon". I didn't want to spar not knowing who else I'd be sparring against!
I took home the 2nd place trophy. I'm not sure the girls have ever seen my Gymnastics or Track trophies from HS - but they were pretty excited to see this one!

Elliot was the most intrigued by it. I asked her if she would like to enter her own tournament so she can win a trophy too of her own...and she replied "No mommy, I just want yours!".

Uh oh - someone's awake - gotta go...that's all there was anyway! -kg

Karate Girls Update

I can't remember the details of the test...not only because it's June now and I'm trying to remember what happened 3 months ago...but because at a karate test - you naturally become robotic and go go go until they say "line up", "take your belts off", and "congrats"!
I do remember it was bitter cold. The oldest kids and the adults had to go outside for laps, drills and demonstrate specific skills. I was trying to keep my finger tips covered with my gi sleeves and was very grateful the girls didn't have to go out too! And after looking at some of the pictures Travis took, I remembered they did a "belt hunt" (it was around Easter)...All of the belts were hidden throughout the entire dojo and the kids could not advance until they fond everyone of them. (Turns out, they lost track of the count. When I got my belt, they couldn't find the right size, so he got a smaller one for me for the time being. When I went in for my next class - they had found it in the kids ball bucket. They missed one and it happened to be mine - so funny!)
They finished after an hour and I went for 2 1/2 hours. Afterwards, we went out to dinner as usual! Now I am a Green w/ Brown Stripe and the girls are Blue w/ Green Stripe. I think they will test soon for their Green belt, and I will test probably at the end of the summer for my Brown? (I'm keeping my fingers crossed). -kg

A New Year...It's been a busy one...

It's already June - but after I type this, I have to type up about 4 other posts just to give Katie something better to read than repeats! (and my mom).

I can honestly say - Etsy has gotten the better part of me for the last 6 months...and my Kid Giddy blog. But that all came to a screeching halt last month when I just couldn't keep up with everything anymore. I stopped blogging for the most part and stopped hanging out and promoting on the Etsy Forums...it was a really nice change of pace.
I started to realize I was taking more pics of food and tutorials for my blog, than I was of my own girls...so sad I know - and trust me - I regret every minute of that realization! So I took them out in the drizzling rain and let them be silly and took some pictures. They had a blast and I did too!
So this marks my change - for all to see (whoever is reading this). When we know better, we do better and that can make all the difference! More Goulder photos...coming right up! -kg
